about

"The Lightbulb Strikes Back" is the sophomore release by the American rock group Eight Bit Racer. The album was recorded over a two day period in November of 2011, at the band's iconic "Lightbulb" studio.

The first session took place on November 23, 2011 at the band's inaugural Thanksgiving celebration, which featured performances by Eight Bit Racer, as well as various line-ups featuring friends of the band. In their first performance in nearly 4 months, the band recorded "Colossus" and "Moai" in one take. Along with audio, the group filmed the performance, leading to the release of their first music video.

Two days later, the group reunited to record "The Pylesville Shuffle," "The Pylesville Boogie," and the "Broken Record Suite." For this session, the group was joined by bassist Steve Giro, allowing Ian McBee to exercise his core competency on keys.

Production (consisting of the final mix as well as preliminary edits) was completed by Steve Price and Adam Smith on December 2, 2011.
