about

Eight Bit Racer returned to the "Lightbulb" recording complex mid-December to complete their 3rd live-in-studio album. After multiple weeks of rehearsal (featuring various arrangements of members each time), the band convened on January 6th and recorded the entire jam.

Prior to the performance, the band decided that it would be in each member's best interest to go on hiatus following the production of "Return of the Lightbulb." With an imminent and abrupt divorce on the horizon, each member felt the need to bring forth their most creative and innovative musical ideas. Undoubtedly their most daring venture into the realm of noise-rock, Eight Bit Racer surely went out with a bang.

In the band's final days together, the overall mood was steadfast and optimistic. Paul Byers, Jeremy Seymour and Steve Price all were excited to return to their original formation as "The Nominal." Around the same time, Adam Smith was in the process of forming a new Audio-Visual team in Virginia, as well as performing and recording with "The Alcatraz Kids." Ian McBee also has left for new adventures - his new projects are underway in College Park, MD.

From Phil Roszak's heartfelt introduction to the tiny drones which fade into "Electric Nothing," one can only hope that the band reunites again in the future. But for now, we can only hope.

We shall remember the mighty EIGHT BIT RACER, always and forever.
